Contrary to its name, buckwheat isn’t a type of wheat at
all; rather, it belongs to the rhubarb family. Buckwheat has been grown
in
Europe and Asia for thousands of years.
As
a crop, it grows quickly and works well to
naturally control weeds. Some common uses of buckwheat flour are
noodles and
pancakes. Though buckwheat flour is gluten free, it is still processed
in the
same facility that our wheat flour is processed. Why not change up
Sunday
morning brunch a bit and swap that wheat or barley flour for some
buckwheat
flour!
